The 50-bed Spire Thames Valley Hospital in Wexham, Buckinghamshire is a 50-bed private hospital offering a range of healthcare services. It has two major operating theatres, both of which are equipped with laminar flow - this is a special clean air system which reduces the risk of infection. The hospital has surgical services for both breast and bowel cancer, and both units are BUPA-approved. Palliative care is available for patients whose illness is terminal. Thames Valley Nuffield can perform mammography to diagnose breast cancer. Other diagnostic services at the hospital include MRI scans, x-rays and ultrasound. Although the hospital does not operate on children under three years of age, it does operate on children aged between three and twelve. There are always at least two members of staff on site with current Paediatric Advanced Life Support training to help in the event of an emergency.
