The Spire Hospital Washington has 35 beds and offers a range of surgical, diagnostic and medical services. The hospital is able to perform surgery for both breast and bowel cancer, with both units BUPA-approved. It also offers chemotherapy services. There are two critical care beds at the hospital, and always at least one member of staff on site with Advanced Life Support training, so there is coverage in the event of an emergency. The hospital has two major operating theatres, both of which are laminar flow - this is a special clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during an operation. There is also one minor operating theatre.
