St Albans City Hospital has recently been developed as the centre for planned and day surgery in west Hertfordshire, with the opening of a new Elective Care Centre in September 2007.
The hospital provides a range of ambulatory and diagnostic services. It has a Minor Injuries Unit and a state-of-the-art Breast Unit which provides a full breast care service to patients from west Hertfordshire. There is a purpose built ophthalmology unit which concentrates on the provision of cataract surgery and has a number of ophthalmology clinics.
